SPECIES CYCLAMEN

Home Vinyl Fencing Plants Contact us Site Map

Wild forms of cyclamen have been favourites of ours for many years—particularly as most of them flower in autumn, winter or early spring,

We grow all ours from seed, mainly from our own stock plants. This is quite a slow business but we will not import any wild collected plants or anything of a dubious provenance.

We stock a wide range of species both for the garden and the bulb frame and alpine house.

Autumn Flowering—hederifolium, cilicium, mirabile, cyprium,  africanum, graecum.

Winter Flowering—coum, alpinum(trochopteranthum)

Spring Flowering, balearicum, libanoticum, pseudibericum, persicum, various repandum forms including peloponnese, rhodense and creticum.

Summer Flowering—purpurascens

A lot of experimentation is going on to try out the borderline species outside in the UK, with encouraging results. Many species regarding as very borderline, e.g. pseudibercum, libanoticum, alpinum (trochopteranthum) and some repandum forms, have done well in many sheltered areas as far north as Lancashire, so it is always worth a try.

All the species make good pot plants and are very rewarding. The leaves of many forms are infinitely variable and many of the flowers are sweetly scented. Use a loam based compost such as John Innes, with lots of extra grit and do not over water.  Have a look at Plant List for current availability.

New catalogue will be issued in Autumn 2007.
